There is a catch "Whoever plays more will get free tickets". Advertisement is ended saying call charges Rs 6 per minute.
Not very sure who all will play and get the free tickets. But Whoever gets the "Free" ticket should re-think if it was really free. Person may end up spending more money than the Actual rate of Ticket.

Brahmagiri Trek

This was my first trek. I was all excited and waiting for the day. First place to visit as part of this trek was "Irpu falls". Won't describe anything just take a look.

Had breakfast, collected sleeping bag arranged the backpack and all set to climb towards "Nari Male". Applied snuff and oil paste on legs and boots to safeguard from leech. You can imagine the state of my white socks.

Organizers informed that first one and half hour is the difficult path after that its easy. Many of us thought will start after one and half hour. Finally decided to explore how difficult it is and all started together.

Had “chapatti”, “chatnipudi”, salad and curds for lunch. Must say we had very good lunch. I had not expected to get that good lunch at that remote place.
Oh it’s not nap time, but its time to move ahead towards “Nari male”.
Climbed few minutes and looked around. I could see green, green and green everywhere. This was no less beautiful to what shown in movies. Should I say Beautiful/marvelous, I don't know which word suits this beauty, you take a look.

We were at “Nari male”. Welcome drink supposed to wait for us, but got little delayed. Few eagerly waiting for their tea had a bad news. While climbing with grocery we had missed tea packets.

After having energy booster "lemon juice" we started towards "Munikal caves". Couldn't see much in caves as we were late and it was very dark. But the way to "Munikal caves" itself was worth seeing. While walking back, beautiful big Moon gave us the company.

Dinner was followed by cultural activity. When I was busy enjoying the cultural activities, Red Cross at “Nari male”, took my blood without informing me.
It was time to bed, we placed our self in sleeping bag. It was very cold and I could not sleep well.

Got up in the morning, warmed our self sitting in front of fire. Eagerly waiting Tea lovers were happy to have their cup of lemon tea in the morning. Went out for a "Nature Trail" which reminded me of Education tour during school days.

Had breakfast, packed the lunch, packed the bags and started towards Brahmagiri. Two groups were made, one group which want to climb Brahmagiri and other group which will take relatively easier path.

Reached the base of the Brahmagiri hill, can I actually climb this? was the only question in mind. Does danger come along with Beauty not sure , but this hill looked beautiful and dangerous. I finally decided to climb.

Did look down while climbing up to make myself happy how much I have achieved :-). Finally we were on top of Brahmagiri. Just threw myself on the bed of grass and relaxed for sometime.

Now the time to climb down all the distance we covered in last one and half day. I had hurt my toe while climbing. Had a doctor in our team and she did a first aid and I was all ready to take my steps.

We reached "Tirunelli" in kerala and our trek came to an end.
Back to Bangalore and back to noisy life.

This weekend I have registered to Brahmagiri Trek.

Will share my experience once I am back.

M G road Disaster

Saturday I had to drive from Marthhalli to Rajajinagar. Only road I was aware of was Martha halli->Airport road->M G road ->Cubbon Road -> Rajbhavan road -> Malleshwaram -> Rajajinagar. I don’t try new roads especially when I am driving a car.
I started around 11.20 am from Martha halli. Even though it was a slow moving traffic at some places I reached MG road in 30 minutes. Air Port road to MG road entry was closed. Traffic was diverted. There were no boards mentioning where to take left /right to reach cubbon road. I was almost lost. I did not know where to go. Putting together all the knowledge I had of roads and direction I choose a road to go, thanks to Bangalore traffic Police even that was closed.

I had to ask many people for direction to reach cubbon road. I kept driving in the direction suggested. When I reached a road near Commercial Street I was sure I haven’t lost and I can reach home.
This was not problem with me alone. I could see many more enquiring the direction to reach their destination. I took nearly 1hr 40 minutes to reach home.
For whatever reason they block one road, it would be great help if they put the boards for the alternate road to take.

I pity those who have to live with this disaster every day.

Sriman Narayana Sriman Narayana

Again on a song but this time it’s on classical/devotional song.I get to hear this song at my music class. My music teacher was teaching one more student. I fell in love with song. My teacher also told she is teaching the way M.S.S has version of the song.

I searched in net to listen to MSS version. I found in youtube. But I always have problem listening from youtube. It doesn’t play continuously. Then I get to hear the version of “Bombay sisters” and also “Bombay Jayashree”.
Thanks to Music India Online. I wish they put MSS version too.

Bombay Jayashree version seems to be easier compared to Bombay Sisters version.
I am still searching for MSS version.

Table Tennis

I got introduced to this game when I joined Degree course at Sagar before joining to Engineering course.Since I was sure to get into engineering course, didn't take the Degree course seriously.

After college hours Spent some time completing the assignments given, and more time on learning to play TT.Once I joined Engineering I couldn't play.

Again this year I started playing TT once in blue moon. This month our team is organizing some games (Fun at work). TT is one of them. So from past few days we practiced TT. Yesterday we (it was doubles) had match. We lost. But I am happy that we lost by 20-21 and 19-21. Yes, Yes it was best of three games. We were almost winning, but there is difference between almost winning and winning. Next time want to play and try to make this almost win to win :-)

Chakde India

Wow what a great movie. I am not a fan of SRK. But this movie he is best.

I have never watched a Hockey match. I don't know anything about Hockey.
All I know is there are two teams each having 11 players :-) And sometimes teams get penalty stroke.

After watching this movie, I want to understand the rules and start following Hockey matches.

Great job by each and everyone in that movie. Its a must watch for each and everyone.

Adventure at Ramanagaram

This year team outing was different from previous years. Venue was “Ramanagarm” and not any resort. I was exited and eagerly waiting for the day. On Much awaited day we started from Koramangala at 8am. For the first time in my life I was sitting in School bus.
Around we 9.30am we were at the picnic spot.

Adventure club members were setting up for the adventurous events. First was rope traversing, then rappelling and Chimney climbing. Our team head count was 60+. Hence we made 3 groups. My group first went to Chimney climbing. Instructor gave instructions for chimney climbing and demonstrated. Knew it’s a tough job but wanted to do it. I started with shoes on failed, then with socks on and failed. I tried with bear foot and I was able to do it. I took my own time but successfully climbed. I was on top of the world with no energy left to touch the sky.

Next adventure spot for our group was rappelling. It looked scary but seemed to be easier than chimney climbing. I geared up for rappelling. First few steps I was little nervous. But then I just enjoyed. I Wanted to do it again and again. This did not require energy all it required was fearless steps on rock.

We were left with “Rope traversing”. This was scheduled for our team post lunch session. I was feeling rope traversing was toughest as I felt it needs more energy. We had to climb the Ladder, this was adventurous by itself. I traversed half the distance in the way I was instructed to do. But I couldn't’t continue. My back was hurting badly. I did cover the full distance but in my own way.

Evening trek to Sunset point was cancelled as it rained. We did enjoy walking in rain at base camp. Late in the evening we had singing, dancing and bonfire. They served hot “baji” to eat. After having dinner we started back to Bangalore.
This was no doubt a most memorable trek till date.

Om Coffee :-)

We all have heard of "Filter coffee", "Nescafe" but not "Om" coffee? Then visit a coffee shop in HSR. Many a times we had coffee there but last Friday we were served a beautiful coffee. After Closer look at the coffee we found that they had designed "Om”.

You too take a look.

(I guess they are also civilized now).

J. Jankovic-Out of Wimbledon 2007 :-(

I got to see her play in French Open 2007. She was playing against Henin My favourite. No doubt I wanted Henin to win the match. But watching Jankovic play I started liking her. She is very sweet. She always applauds when opponent plays well. I guess I like this attitude of her the most.

Wimbledon she played well against Safarova. Saforova covers court brilliantly. I feel Jankovic is sometimes overconfident. But she has quite a good number of Ace from her Racket.

Yesterday Jankovic played against Bartoli. She lost the game :-(. Bartoli was brilliant. Jankovic again applauded for brilliant return from Bartoli. Thanks to Start Sports I couldn’t watch full match.

Not Without My Daughter

My colleague recommended “Not without My daughter” to me. I was reading for the first time a real story. As I started to read the book, it was clear that author had very bad experience in Iran(Contradict to what I had heard from Shrilatha). Each and every word in a sentence revealed hatred. Story is about an American Women (Betty) married to an Iranian (Moody) and their little darling Mehtob.
Good thing about this story, it’s a happy ending. And narration of story is good too. When I read I felt as if Betty is narrating her story sitting in front of me. This book is very unsettling. Till I completed reading, Betty, Mehatob and Moody were in my dreams. The day I completed I had a sound sleep, no more dreams on Betty, Moody or Mehtob. After all the tortures, Betty and Mehtob survive to meet their family back in America. I am unable to understand what helped them survive, their stamina or determination to survive the odds and unite with family?

World Music Day

World Music day is Celebrated on 21st June. I came to know about it yesterday :-). Probably Many came to know about it yesterday.
FM 91.1 is my drive time friend. And Sunshine girl announced that RC will be playing special songs for World Music Day. I love many songs but I don't know I remembered " Albela sajan ayore" from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. After 5 minutes Sunshine girl played the same song. Was my wish fulfilled because of World Music Day or Telepathy works I don't know and not worried either.

Reached office and wanted to listen to old song list which my friend had created in raga. but raaga had some problem yesterday. Thought of trying Music India Online to listen to MS songs. Even that didn't open.

I remembered I have "Da. Ra Bendre" songs stored in my system. I kept listening to them.
Beautiful poems with beautiful tunes. What else I could wish on World Music Day.

Why only one day is marked as World Music Day. Isn't the music part of our life. Isn't every day a Music Day?

Devrayana Durga

Wanted to go trekking this weekend, Didn't knew where to go. Finally Shrilatha suggested to go to DD(Devrayana Durga).Four of us started on Saturday to DD. We drove car our self to DD enjoying the traffic free drive.
I had told I want to walk even though there is a road for vehicles to "Yoga Narasimha" Temple. Shrilatha had even told me to climb further and reach "mantapam".We reached "Bhoga Narasimha temple at base around 9.30am. It was very calm. Place is clean too.Loved the way they had tied sari to "Lakshmi" devi.

We ate Jamun first time this year.Enquired which is path to take if we are interested to walk. And started marching towards our destination. It was sunny not a very good weather for trek. But we had determined to walk and we stick to that.Few places it was steep but good experience. On the way Our camera caught beautiful pictures around us.

We reached "Bhoga Narasimha" temple. All busy in buying "pooja" material, we were busy buying eatable. We were hungry.
After taking the blessings of "Yoga Narasimha" we moved towards the "Matapam". There are arrows to guide. We had enough time to explore the rock and we went to place where it said no road :-). We were happy about ourselves not to follow the arrow as we explored many more caves.

We relaxed in sun for sometime and walked back to base.

Sabudana Upama

No No I am not giving a recipe here. I am sharing my long relation with
"Sabudana Upama".

I did my engineering in "BEC Bagalkot". First year and Final year I was in Hostel. But Second and third year I stayed with my friends in a room near to college. Attached to our room was a house were "Aunt , Uncle and their 2 kids" were staying. We were lucky to have such a nice family as neighbours. Aunt Used to prepare "SabuDana Upama" during Shivratri. She may be preparing other days too. But I had got to eat on Shivratri. It was very tastey. That time I didn't even know to prepare a cup of coffee. So I didn't bother to know the recipe.

Recently during lunch we lunch mates started discussing on "Sabudana payasam". Thanks to our caterers. Now I know to cook so I asked if any one know how to prepare "Sabudana Upama". One of them mentioned how to prepare.

On same day I happened to tell how much I like "Sabudana Upma" to my friend Shrilatha too. She probably took 1 minute to send me the blog on preparing "Sabudana Upama".I decided I will prepare on weekend.
Next day I was surprised to see one of my colleague(who was not aware of Sabudana discussion) had brought "Sabudana Upma" for her breakfast. I was shameless enough to say I love it. So sweet of her she asked me to eat. That was also very tasty.

One Sunday I prepared as mentioned in blog. I was disappointed as it was almost like a glue. I told my colleague who had brought Upama what had happened. She told I have to soak it only for 45 minutes and not 3/4 hours. Second Time I tried again. This time it wasn't glue but it was little harder. Again I told her my upama story. She said she soaks previous night and keeps in Refrigerator and prepares in the Morning. And she buys Sabudana from "FabMall".

Yesterday I did the same steps and Today yeah "Sabudana Upma" came out really nice. My theory "To learn any dish you need 3 days" proved right again.

French Open

Yesterday I happened to watch French Open women's Semifinals. Henin And Ana were Superb. But Henin is my favorite. I am not fan of Sharapova. I feel she lacks sportsmen(women)ship.
I started liking Ana too. But still I want Henin to win.
Watching them play reminded me of the days I started following tennis.

I started watching tennis when I was in school. I liked Steffi. How calm a player can be. When I was not understanding the rules, players expression would help me to know they lost the point/won. But It was very difficult to understand from steffi expression. As she used to be calm all the time. Just opposite was Monika. No doubt Monika was a good player but I liked Steffi.Among Men players I liked Boris Becker, Pete Sampras.

Now I like Federror, watching him play is treat to eye.Now a days most players are hard hitters. But Federor place the ball very nicely.I feel he wins because of his intelligent way of placing the ball.
Today is Men's Semi Finals. I will not be able to watch. But I guess Federror and Nadal will be in Finals.
How can I forget Martina Navratilova. She is all time favorite. She is one more cool chap.

Cheeni Kum

I like sweet which is really sweet. I never thought I can like a sweet which is less sweet.
But I liked Cheeni Kum. I like Tabu she is a fantastic actress. Not to mention AB is always best. How sweet "sexy" was. How could they say "cheeni kum" :-).

I liked everything in the movie. Starting from AB name "ghas poos" to AB mother saying I don't have to eat my medicine as I don't have to cook for you.
One of the scenes I liked most is AB mother telling Tabu there was a women in AB life for 6 months. How well mother can know her kids without kids telling her. Is n't it so real.

I like original kannada song " joteyali jote joteyali" and I like "janedona jane janedona" too.

Very good dialogues. Debut movie of a director/writer should be the one to watch I guess. They will be fresh and different.
I liked "cheeni kum" not because it a sweet with less sugar but its like "Haldiram's chatpata".

Not Paying Tax

Few days back I was flipping through old news paper. And my eyes caught an interesting article "How it feels not to pay any tax". Reading the subject itself my eyes opened wide and I guess I started dreaming about "no one in India paying Tax".
Putting a break to my day dream, I started reading the article. The guy who wrote this article mentioned that he stays in Saudi Arabia and there he earns 8000 Saudi riyals and he doesn't pay a penny as tax. Whatever he gets in paper as salary is his take home salary.
Surprisingly that person felt he was not contributing to the growth of the country as he wasn't paying tax. He also mentioned that company pays the tax.

My view regarding this is fully different. I feel company would have fixed the salary taking out the tax a person should pay. i.e if he is worth 9000 riyals he would be payed 8000 riyals.

Directly or indirectly each of us pay the tax and also part of country's growth.I don't think I will feel left out If My country says no tax from people. I will be the happiest.

Lumbini Garden

Not Friday the 13Th but Sunday 13th of May 2007 we decided to visit Lumbini Garden near Nagavara. We started from Rajajinagar at 5.15pm and started towards Lumbini. We reached around 6pm . Garden is located on the Nagavara ring road.We were astonished to see the crowd near the entrance. I couldn't capture the crowd in the snap :-) So here is the snap of the entrance with 3 men. Thanks to flickr.com.

We managed to get the entrance ticket paying Rs30 per head and entered the Lumbini Garden/Nagavara Lake. There was a huge crowd waiting to get the ticket and enter the garden. But inside the garden rush was probably 10 times the number waiting outside. Rush reminded me of "Sirsi Marikamba fair".

Kids were happy climbing the rock and others very busy eating the snack.Surprisingly people were busy eating/watching others and not enjoying the nature. Taking "banana baji" and coffee we decided to tell nature don't feel bad we are here to watch you. You can see us relaxing sitting on chair with cup of coffee? :-) No then imagine.
We spent some time relaxing here. Sun said he is tiered and want to take rest.we said wait a minute we want to catch you in our camera. So nice of him, he posed for photo.
After having a photo session with sun we decided to explore other part of garden. There is a "Artificial Beach" but we couldn't see as there was huge crowd waiting to enter and we decided to come back one more time to see beach in Bangalore.

No Doubt its a beautiful garden but lake still stinks. Lake is not as clean as Sanky Tank in Bangalore. People are allowed to carry eatables inside the garden so more the people more dirty its going to be. Its quite a big garden now and its going to be bigger in future. One side is still under development.
Our legs started saying they need rest and giving respect to their words we started back home.

A visit to Cubbon Park

My in-laws had some work in Pensioner's office. Pensioner's office is located in Cubbon Park. Yes its inside the beautiful Cubbon Park.We started from home and drew in front of neighbours envy owner's pride "Vidhana Souda" to reach Cubbon Park.
Any time infront of Vidhana Soudha I remember my ride from Banshankari IInd stage to Cunningham road. I was getting to see the beauty of Vidhana Soudha in all
seasons. With good old memories entered Cubbon park. All the trees were looking so beautiful. That raises a question why don't we have Beautiful Tree pageant :-).

All is not well always. Same at Cubbon Park. I was disappointed to see how badly the surroundings of pensioner's office was maintained.

In-laws went to the office and I preferred to Sit below a mango tree listening to music.A person came in car , parked the car , took one book and started reading sitting below the tree.I have never tried reading sitting below a tree. I think I should try at least once to find how it feels.

My husband was exploring Cubbon park and found few were playing tennis. One of my favorite sport is tennis(I don't know to play :-(). I decided to spend rest of the time in Cubbon park watching people play tennis in bright sun.80% of the audience were in their 60s. I thought I will
have 5 or 10 minutes so preferred to stand. But One of the audience there asked me to sit by vacating the chair. It was so nice of him. I sat watching them play. I was amazed to see them play in bright Sun. First they practiced and they started playing the match. My in-laws work took good amount of time and I got to watch tennis for 45 minutes. Thanks to the person for offering me chair.

I always love walking in Cubbon Park or Lalbagh. This visit was one more memorable one.
Even though it was not as good a treat to eye as watching Federror play. But it was far better than watching our cricketers in WC :-)

Raincoat

Much awaited Summer rain in Bangalore poured last week. And it was time for me to watch "Raincoat" and not to buy one :-)
I am talking about Raincoat Movie. Ah its old one!Yes its quite old. But I had not watched it. Had heard a lot and wanted to watch. Moreover I like Ajay Devgan.
Friday "Raincoat" was telecast in Zoom TV. And I Happened to tune to the channel exactly when they started. And no way I could miss this chance. So I started watching.
In the middle power went of due to rain. I thought that's the climax of me watching the movie.
But in few minutes power was back and me back in front of TV.
Its a slow movie. But a good movie.I liked the conversation, it was very natural. Everything was so natural.
I was unhappy with one thing :-) We(human) are too greedy.
When Ajay meets Ash at her place, I could see Ash clearly and even Ajay clearly. But Ajay says Please light the lamp so that I can see your face. Common, there is so much light why do you have to waste candle :-) Poor Ash.
I am not Ash fan, but she has really done a good job in this movie.
Watching the movie with high expectation didn't disappoint me. Even though I missed few hours of my sleep, it was worth.

Standard of Govt Books

I went to "Chalghatta govt school 2 weekends. First weekend, some time I sat in class where my friend was taking class. And then took Hindi for 6th std.
Second week I was demoted:-) and sent to take English for 5th std.
Being sure that, that school has from std 1 and I won't be demoted to '0' I went to class 5th.Very few students in class. Asked them which chapter to start?. They said I need to teach them "Posting a letter".
I thought good one for 5th std. And started. Note in Govt school from 5th std they start learning English alphabets. So we need to spell the letters first and then spell the word. Even though I felt it difficult as that habit is gone from so many years. We started reading each and every letter and each and every word. There are few words written in book for example
I would is written "I'd" Who on earth can expect a kid who just started learning 'A B C' to understand this. And if we teach them this way how will they know the spelling of "I Would' If everyone on earth think 5th Std kid can understand "I'd" then I must be from mars :-)One more thing I was unhappy was
Situation is Raju goes to Post office and asks postmaster for a postcard. Post master answer is ."Here it is". This is still OK. But for beginners I guess it should have been "Here is the post card". That helps kid to read the same word multiple time and get familiar with that new word.
There were many such spelling which I feel difficult for 5th Std kid to understand.
But we have to teach the same way :-(

Hamesha such bolna !

Wait wait I am not preaching you anything here. This is a one of the Hindi chapters for 7th std Govt School in karnataka. One weekend I decided to join my friend who visits a govt school in "chalghatta" near Air-port road.
She takes Hindi for 7th Std school. Since I was new to that school I thought I will sit in my friends class and help her in controlling the kids. Chapter for that Day was "Hamesha Such Bolna". She started teaching. This was a story taken from MahaBharat. So Dritarashtra was one of the name in book. Almost all found it difficult to pronounce his name. Few said, dushta rashtra, dushta raj. After some I asked one guy to write on board "Dritarashtra" in Hindi, with very small mistake he wrote on board.
Make sure students were listening what we were saying my friend started asking question.
Question she asked was "Who is Pandu". Even though all knew the answer, no one wanted to attempt pronouncing "Dritarashtra".But incident made write this is a guy said "Pandu is brother of" and showed his finger towards the board :-)
We both couldn't stop laughing at his answer. Is it his laziness or his intelligence to properly make use of available things !!!

Kallrali Hoovagi

Movie by Naghabarana, got good review from almost all.

We decided to watch this movie on 30th Dec Saturday. Being year-end we didn't know if we would get tickets. So I tried to book the ticket in Innovative Multiplex. But movie was not played in Innovative and so with help of a friend I booked tickets in PVR for 6.50pm Show.

We entered the auditorium and found only Hindi movie trailer being shown, so checked with next seaters to make sure that we are in right auditorium.

Finally movie started with a midnight battle between "madakari nayaka's army and "haider Ali". Color used in this scene was superb. I could really feel its night. Usually in movies night scenes are either very dark so nothing can be seen, or full bright which is un-realistic. Here they have taken as full moon day and the scene looks realistic.

I liked the start of the movie. Overall picturization is good.

Felt just because "Vijay can dance well" they have put many songs. Heroin looks fresh. She looks beautiful in Hindu costume. She doesn't have a Muslim look at all.

All the senior actors were good. Sumalatha didn't speak a word. Bharathi and AnatNag were tooo good. But I felt Ambrish accent was little dramatic. It was looking over acting than natural Raja tone.

Viajy Raghvendra has done Justice to the role but I felt his role was as normal as in other movies. He didn't talk in the accent of kingdom era. So when you here him speaking you don't feel its historic movie :-)

One family sitting next to us left after interval. But I don't think it was that bad a movie. But liking differs. Even though I don't say its a must watch but its not boring too. its a good time pass.

No regrets for going to "kallarali hoovagi"
